How we work
Editorial Policy
How Ryntavos teaches, researches, writes, and reviews its content — and how we stay independent.
Last updated: June 12, 2026
Trust is the only thing that makes a photography publication worth reading. This page explains how we research, write, review, and maintain everything on Ryntavos — and how we keep our guidance independent.
How we choose what to cover
We write about the things that actually help people make better pictures: understanding light, seeing a composition before you lift the camera, demystifying settings, editing with intention, and finding your way into a genre you love. Ideas come from our own shooting, reader questions, and the problems we see people get stuck on. We do not chase gear-release hype for traffic's sake.
How we teach, shoot, and write
Every article is written or edited by a named member of our team with direct, hands-on experience of the topic. We teach gear-agnostically and craft-first: we start from what you're trying to see and achieve, not from a camera we'd like to promote. When a technique depends on specific settings or facts, we explain the reasoning and link to primary sources — manufacturer documentation and recognised references — rather than recycling what other sites say, and we note when something varies by camera, scene, or situation.
Editing and review
Before publication, each piece is reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and usefulness. We ask a simple question of every draft: would this genuinely help someone see and shoot better, or is it just filling space? If it is the latter, it does not run. We also check that any guidance touching people's rights, consent, or the law points readers to act responsibly and within local rules.
Respect for subjects and ethics
The people, places, and wildlife in front of the lens matter more than any photograph. We teach photography that treats subjects with respect — seeking consent, honouring privacy and a "no", protecting the dignity of the people depicted, and never disturbing animals or habitats for a shot. We don't endorse deceptive manipulation that misrepresents reality where honesty is expected.
Independence and advertising
Ryntavos is funded by advertising and, occasionally, affiliate links. To protect your trust:
- We are brand-agnostic and never accept payment to praise a camera, brand, or product in editorial content — there is no pay-for-placement.
- Advertising is clearly distinguishable from articles.
- Affiliate relationships never change our verdict — see our disclaimer for the full disclosure.
Our use of AI tools
Our articles are written and edited by people. We may use software for spell-checking, research, or suggesting outlines, but a human photographer-writer is responsible for the substance, accuracy, and final wording of everything we publish. We do not publish auto-generated content.
Accuracy and corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do, we fix them quickly and transparently. If you spot an error or an out-of-date detail, email hello@ryntavos.com or use our contact form. Substantive corrections are noted on the article.
Updates
Because tools and techniques evolve, we revisit popular guides and refresh them. When an article is meaningfully updated, the publication date reflects the most recent revision.
